PHOTOS: Pepper Pals brings the spice to local restaurants

Pepper Pals, a grass-roots social media group of self-professed spicy food lovers, partners with local restaurants for unique spicy dishes to tantalize their taste buds.

The group, founded by Steve Fullilove, has quickly grown to over 400 members. Members travel around the Shreveport-Bossier community tasting unique, spicy dishes from local restauranteurs and chefs.

On August 17, that restaurant was the Seventh Tap Brewery in the East Bank District. Two unique menu items were created especially for the group: the Blazin’ Tap Burger and Street Red Fire Wings.

The Blazin’ Tap Burger was two of their signature smash patties with American cheese, topped with caramelized onions and scorpion pepper blend, pickles, and blazin’ tap sauce. The Street Red Fire Wings took their house sweet red chili sauce and cranked the Scoville up. The Scoville Scale is a measurement of spiciness for foods.

The Seventh Tap has supported the group’s endeavors for quite some time. The event was meant to show support for the brewery. “The Seventh Tap has always welcomed us for events,” Fullilove shared in the group. “Now it’s time to repay the favor and flood their new location with our group and show them the love that they have shown us!”

The fun isn’t just for those with a palette built of steel. Many join the group at each restaurant to watch the reactions as members try different dishes or just to socialize and provide support for friends.
