Shreveport Farmers’ Market becomes Greaux the Good Partner
Shreveport Farmers’ Market has partnered with Greaux the Good, a new statewide Market Match nutrition incentive program, operated by Market Umbrella, a nonprofit organization based in New Orleans that operates the Crescent City Farmers Markets and several fresh food access programs.
Greaux the Good has allowed Shreveport Farmers’ Market to increase the previous Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) incentive program’s capacity”. Shoppers that use their EBT cards at the market will receive a dollar-for-dollar match for SNAP dollars they spend at Greaux the Good partner locations. Greaux the Good empowers families to purchase more fresh local foods and generates more business for local farmers. Greaux the Good was made possible through funds allocated in the 2022-2023 state budget.
The Greaux the Good program at Shreveport Farmers’ Market includes a SNAP Market Match of $10.00 dollars per market day/visit SNAP-Eligible Products in addition to the $10.00 dollar match from Louisiana Healthcare Connections, resulting in a total of $20.00 matching funds when an EBT customer spends $20.00 on their card.
The Shreveport Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday from June 3rd – August 26th, 2023 from 7:30 am to 12:30 p.m at Festival Plaza (located at 101 Crockett Street) in Downtown Shreveport. SNAP Match can be redeemed at the Information Booth sponsored by Slow Food North Louisiana near the Depot building.
