Speed cameras being installed at local schools
The City of Shreveport has partnered with Blue Line Solutions to install speed cameras at 10 local schools. The cameras will monitor the speed of vehicles in the school zones, snap a picture of speeding cars, and send them a ticket via mail.
The initiative is meant to reduce the speed of vehicles in our school zones and make these areas safer for our children and others.
The schools with these cameras include:
Atkins Elementary
Caddo Heights
Caddo Magnet High School
Captain Shreve
Creswell Elementary (Highland Ave)
Greek Oaks
Southern Hills
Southwood
Westwood Elementary
Woodlawn High School
There will be a 30 day grace period where speeding drivers will receive a warning. The camera installation will be complete in the next couple of weeks.
Phase 2 of the project will see the addition of cameras at other area schools. Phase 2 schools include:
AMI Kids Lakeshore Middle School
Booker T. Washington High School
Caddo Career and Technology Center
Calvary Baptist Academy
Claiborne Fundamental Elementary
Creswell Elementary (Creswell Ave)
Farifield Elementary
Linwood Elementary
Riverside Elementary
Summerfield Elementary
You’ll definitely want to be more aware of the school zones throughout Shreveport. Or you may just end up with a ticket in your mailbox.
